2005 Frost & Sullivan Award for

Technology Innovation

Award Recipient – Alistagen Corporation

San Antonio, April, 2005 - Frost & Sullivan’s 2005 Technology Innovation Award in the field of  coatings and surface technologies goes to Alistagen Corporation in recognition of the company’s development of the innovative anti-microbial - prophylactic coating technology known as CaliwelTM with BNA.

Its semi-permeable microencapsulated formula employs a Bi-Neutralizing Agent (BNA) that prevents microbial growth on surfaces. This industrial grade, smart coating’s anti-microbial formula eliminates the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold, mildew, algae, fungi and viruses on coating surface.

Caliwel’s calcium hydroxide based technology is proven and tested to be safe to humans and animals and is environment friendly. Additionally, its enzyme denaturalization and incapacitation properties are rapidly reversible for animal tissue but not for microbes. In 2002 Caliwel received the EPA registration for surface applications and, in 2003, for OEM applications.  This new coating technology that combines function and design is  a full substitute to conventional paint and is perceived as the future of the architectural interior coating industry.

In summary, the Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation recognizes Alistagen’s development of the innovative Caliwel family of anti-microbial, environment friendly, smart (prophylactic) coatings, which have strong potential for market adoption and which are likely to impact several end user sectors such as housing and construction, medical and dental, and specialty uses.
